Gloucester B 4-0 Hounslow by Cyclops
Having already weighted up today's opposition earlier in season, the City B squad again eased to a comfortable victory over visitors Hounslow at Longlevens.
Gloucester started the stronger although seemed to lack that bit of edge to convert any opportunities. Arrowsmith in midfield pushed for that first goal with strong tackles and precise crosses.
It was from one of those crosses that saw the deadlock broken. Lock, waiting at the backpost, converted Arrowsmith’s corner before Cooper’s orange boots purposely fired home from ten yards following a goalmouth scramble.
Further opportunities for Cooper, Fieldhouse, Lock and Easterbrook were all thwarted to keep the scoreline down to two goals.
Determined defending from the Middlesex side denied Gloucester on numerous occasions either side of half time and credit to the visitors for sticking to their task despite limited possession.
After the break Gloucester continued in similar fashion to the first half, piling on the pressure for further goals. Easterbrook twice and Lock each struck the woodwork before Inyinbor’s cross was deflected into his own net by a visiting defender.
Luke Taylor added the home side’s fourth after the keeper had saved Lewis Fieldhouse’s effort following Ben Flatt’s through ball.
Hounslow had been kept at bay for the large part thanks to some resolute defending from Harding, accompanied by Campbell and Irvine. However, the visitors had the final opportunity of the game. A scramble in the home box, saw a looping shot from Walker, but the ever-ready Cornwell rose high to parry clear as the city team wrapped up their eighth victory of the campaign.
Gloucester B: Cornwell; Harding, Campbell, Cooper, Flatt, Arrowsmith, Inyinbor, Taylor, Lock, Irvine, Fieldhouse, Easterbrook.
