Woking B 0-7 Gloucester B

The constant rain all the way to Woking did not dampen the spirits of the Gloucester B team players and they started this Cotswold Challenge Shield game well and made light of the heavy pitch, determined to reverse the result of a few weeks ago.

With Hayes and Thomas looking solid at the back, Ansermoz was able to push forward to good effect and he fed Taylor who finished neatly in the 16th minute for the opening goal. Woking's best spell of the game came as the half neared its end and the visitors were indebted to the industrious Randall who made a great block near the penalty spot to deny the home side an equaliser. The winger’s bravery and commitment came at some cost to himself, the knock sustained in the challenge rendering him unable to play any further part in the game.

Gloucester settled straight back into their passing rhythm as soon as the second half got underway and opportunities began to emerge as Fortey and Laverton dominated the midfield. Ansermoz was again marauding down the flank and Limbrick and Thomas held the back line to good effect.

Taylor completed his brace following good work from Thomas, Williamson and Harris. Harris then took centre stage, scoring a great hat trick in three minutes, the second a pile driver from well outside the box. Williamson capped a fine midfield display with a strike to rival Harris's a few minutes earlier and Harris added another with virtually the last kick of the game, giving him his second consecutive four-goal haul.

Every player played their part in a very good team display full of desire and, most pleasingly, incisive passing at the right times, The Yellows reversing the result of a few weeks ago in some style, winning 7-0.

Gloucester: Sargeant; Ansermoz, Thomas, Williamson, Randall, Fortey, Laverton, Taylor, Harris, Hayes, Limbrick.
