Gloucester B 0-3 Woking B by One Man and his Dog
Gloucester B reconvened after a short break with a fourth encounter against Surrey association Woking.
The home side started well and had the best of the early exchanges without really testing the visitors’ keeper. Arrowsmith and Irvine worked hard in the centre of midfield to deny the visitors space and possession, but against the run of play it was the Surrey side that struck first.
A long ball bounced over the defence and Day did well to time his run and slot home past advancing keeper Cornwell. As the hosts looked to strike back, Inyinbor and Easterbrook each had runs down the flanks, but assured defending denied the attacks progressing further.
Lock and Fieldhouse went through the centre but the Woking keeper saved well on both occasions, while Harding and Campbell in the middle of the city defence ensured Woking were not able to increase their lead at the interval.
The volume of chances increased significantly in the second half and credit is due to both goalkeepers for some fine saves. With Taylor now the driving force in midfield and Lock battling well up front, Gloucester enjoyed their best spell of the game, only for Hogben to strike magnificently from 20 yards out to double the visitors’ advantage.
A third goal from another good Hogben strike somewhat flattered Woking, but that did not discourage the Yellows from keeping on pressing. Inyinbor made a great run from the edge of his own penalty area and reached the opposing area before being dispossessed and Cooper and Fieldhouse combined well to give Taylor an opportunity which was well saved as Woking ran out winners by three goals to nil.
Gloucester B: Cornwell; Harding, Campbell, Cooper, Inyinbor, Fieldhouse, Arrowsmith, Easterbrook, Irvine, Taylor, Lock.
